Obituary for Alison W. Noto
Alison W. Noto, 62
Alison was born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1956. She spent her childhood in Honolulu before moving to the mainland to attend Swarthmore College. Alison graduated with a major in Art History and also met her future husband, Richard, at Swarthmore. She later received a master’s degree in Graphic Design from Rochester Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in Architecture from Yale. She worked as an architect for several years in New York and Philadelphia before moving to Barrington in 1988. Subsequently, Alison devoted her attention to raising her two daughters and to her many interests, including gardening, cooking and baking, and caring for her two dogs, Daisy and Rosie. She was active in many volunteer roles, including serving as the President of the Barrington Garden Club. Despite her constantly self-effacing manner, Alison was an incredibly talented, intelligent, strong, and funny person whose primary concern was always the well-being of her family and many friends. Alison leaves behind her husband of 38 years, Richard, her daughters, Katherine and Patricia, and her mother, Corinne, in addition to many other loving family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Alison’s memory to The Nature Conservancy in Rhode Island, 159 Waterman St., Providence, RI 02906. Alison’s family will receive visitors from 4 to 7PM on Wednesday, 11/7 and Thursday, 11/8 at the Gray Coale Reception Hall, Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd., Providence, RI.
