Obituary for Peter J. Mogayzel
Dr. Peter Mogayzel, 96, died on Monday at his home in Edgewater, MD. Husband of the late Ada Mogayzel. Born in Warren and a long time Providence resident, the son of the late Abdullah and Nasra (Bolice) Mogayzel, he was a Providence resident for 50 years, moving to Edgewater, MD 5 years ago to be closer his son and his family. Dr. Mogayzel was a Lt. in the Air Force in World War II, serving in the communication corps. He was a graduate of Providence College and Tufts University Dental School.
Dr. Mogayzel lived his first 41 years in Warren. He was a star athlete at Warren High playing football and baseball. He was inducted into the Warren Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014. His dental practice, in the historic DeWolfe house on Main St. in Warren, was a mainstay of the community for over 50 years until his retirement in 2003.
Peter and wife of 52 years, Ada, enjoyed architecture, auctions, antiquing and travel, including many summers spent in Venice. The first house they built has been designated a historic house by the Providence Preservation Society.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a beloved uncle. He leaves a son, Dr. Peter J. Mogayzel, Jr. and his wife, Dr. Cyndra Mogayzel of Annapolis, MD and his adored granddaughter, Brown student, Elizabeth Mogayzel.  
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10am in St Joseph Church, Hope St. Providence. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery. Calling Hours Friday 4-7 pm in the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home 230 Waterman St., Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nasra and Abdullah Mogayzel and Sons Fund at the RI Foundation, 1 Union Station, Providence 02903.
