Obituary for Pamala M. Strom
Providence;  Pamela M. Strom, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 27th.  She was the wife of the late Dr. John O. Strom.
Born in Woking, Surrey, England, she was the daughter of the late William & Daisy A. (Renshaw) Mersh. She has been a Providence resident for 58 years.
She worked as a physiotherapist in England and the United States following the completion of her training at Guys Hospital in London.
She was president of the R.I. English-Speaking Union for many years and also served on its national board.
She was a docent at the R.I. School of Design Museum and was an active member of the Handicraft Club.
She was a supporter of the Providence Athenaeum and worked on the campaign to save the Fox Point Public Library.  She was also a founding member of the St. Martin's Church Pre-school.
She leaves a son: David J. Strom and his wife Kathy of Chevy Chase, MD, 2 daughters: Sarah Gillespie and her husband John of Newport,  Ann Strom Bunn and her husband Thomas of Manhattan Beach, CA. and 3 grandchildren; Helen, Mark and Jacob.  She was the sister of the late Derek Mersh.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 1pm in the Historic Chapel at Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd. Providence, RI 02906.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Handicraft Club, 42 College Street, Providence RI 02903.
