Obituary for Mary Ahearn Hutson
Mary A. Hutson, 92, died Tuesday at the home of her daughter in Plymouth MA., surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Robert L. Hutson.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Sarah (Sweeney) Ahearn. Mary was a Cranston resident for many years before moving to West Hyannisport, MA 20 years ago.
Mary was a longtime and active communicant of St. Matthew’s Church. She served on the Parish Council, taught Religious Education and was actively involved in the liturgical life of the Parish. She was a Eucharistic Minister at Cape Cod Hospital, and served as volunteer/staff member at St. Clare's in Hyannis MA., serving the needs of women in recovery.
A longtime member of the Daughter’s of Isabella, she was their treasurer for 36 years.
She leaves her daughter Susan Rourke and husband Thomas of Plymouth, MA; and sons; Steven Hutson and wife Andrea of Waldorf, MD., James Hutson and wife Donna of Foster, Jack Hutson of Warwick and Christopher Hutson of Ocala, Fl. and a daughter-in-law Margaret Hutson of Gaithersburg, MD. She leaves 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Robert A. Hutson and sister of the late James J. Ahearn.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 8:45 from the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home 230 Waterman St., Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Kevin’s Church, Sandy Lane Warwick at 10am. Calling hours Friday 5-8pm. Burial will be in the R.I. Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Donations in her memory may be made to Catholic Social Services - St Clare’s, 261 South St., Hyannis, MA 02601..
