Obituary for Joseph Richard Marisi, Sr.
Joseph R. Marisi, Sr., 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Saturday, January 4, 2020 at RI Hospital.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Louis and Rachel (Mangarelli) Marisi. He lived in Providence most of his life before moving to Johnston.
Joseph was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and served in the US Army. He was employed as a machinist before becoming a dealer at Foxwoods. He was an avid winemaker extradinaire and loved sharing his wine with others. Joe was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Holy Name Society, a life member of St. Mary’s Feast Society and a member of the Son’s of Italy.
He is survived by his sons, Joseph R. Marisi, Jr. and his wife Anita Fortunato Marisi of Venice, FL., and Anthony P. Marisi and his wife Pamela Holmes Marisi of Sterling, CT., his grandchildren Leah Marisi and Alex Marisi. Joe is also survived by his sister, Genevieve Paliotti and was the brother of the late Louis Marisi and Rachel Marisi. He also leaves his long term partner, Patricia Moran of Warwick and her children, Tracie Nickerson and Gene Moran, and his children, Caiti and Megan Moran. Joe had many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was the former husband of Marianne Ward Sarandrea.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 10am in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston St., Cranston. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7pm in the Monahan, Drabble & Sherman Funeral Home, 230 Waterman Street Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to American Cancer Society.
