Obituary for John P. O'Connor
O’Connor, John P. O'Connor, 73, of Providence died Sunday at the Kent Hospital in Warwick. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Hutkowski) O’Connor.Â
A Providence resident most of his life, he was the son of the late Patrick and Bridie (McKenna) O’Connor.
For the last 20 years, John has been the Director of Legislative Counsel for the R.I. State General Assembly. Prior to that he was an attorney in private practice handling many high profile cases including the Ralph Richards trial.
He was a graduate of LaSalle Academy where he was an all state hockey player and captain of their team. He went on to graduate from Bryant College and the New England School of Law. He was a Vietnam War Veteran and a long time communicant of St Joseph Church.
Besides his wife he leaves two sons: Sean O’Connor and his wife Marguerite of Wilton, CT. and Brendan O’Connor and his wife Julie of New York City, a Brother; Ernest O’Connor of Providence and two grandchildren: Quinn and Grace O’Connor.
