Obituary for Jeanne Desrosiers
Jeanne Marie Desrosiers, 77, a long-time resident of Newport, died Wednesday at Heatherwood Rehabilitation Center in Newport. Born in Providence, she was the only daughter of the late Edgar and Mary (Olney) Desrosiers. She was proud of her heritage as the Olney family was one of the early settling families in Portsmouth and Providence.
Jeanne was the owner of the former Covell Guest House, a Bed and Breakfast in Newport, and she was a past president of the Newport Bed and Breakfast Association.
She was a graduate of Goucher College in Baltimore and received a Master of Library Science degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia. During her college years she was an accomplished tennis player. She was an avid Yankee fan, a lover of classical music and was devoted to her cats and dogs, especially her little friend Pippin.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday January 5th at 1:00 PM in the Historic Chapel of Swan Point Cemetery, Blackstone Blvd, Providence. Donations in her memory may be made to the Potter Animal League, 87 Oliphant Lane, Middletown, RI 02842. Condolences may be left at monahandrabblesherman.com
