Obituary for James William Wroe
James William Wroe, 83, born in Pawtucket, RI, passed away on August 4, 2021, in Barefoot Bay, FL, where he had resided for the past 20 years. He is survived by his companion of 25 years, Elizabeth Pomfret. Jim was a loving father to his sons Todd Wroe and John McCaughey, and his daughter Nicole Wroe. He was an especially proud grandfather to Justin Wroe and Tiana Wroe as well as to his great grandson, Lennox Regine.
Jim loved to drive and over the years drove tractor trailers, tour buses and school buses. He would regale all who would listen with stories of his adventures while driving. Jim enjoyed nature of all kinds, camping and hiking, but most of all, he had a great love for the ocean and walking the beach.
All who knew him know he was a stubborn man who you didn’t want to debate, but he will be lovingly remembered as a hardworking man and devoted father and grandfather. He was a proud patriot and US Navy Veteran, having served during the Korean War.
A memorial will be held on September 17, 2021, beginning at 9 am at Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home located at 210 Taunton Avenue, East Providence, RI 02914. Military honor services to follow at the RI Veterans Cemetery at 11 am sharp.
