Obituary for James J. Murray, III
Portsmouth: Murray, James Murray III, 61, of Portsmouth died on April 18th at Elmhurst Extended Care in Providence after a long tough battle with cancer. He was the son of the late James and Nancy Murray.
Jimmy attended De La Salle in Newport and went on to graduate from Portsmouth High School in 1973. He was then accepted to Providence College and graduated in 1977. He loved academics and was an excellent student.
After working in Newport as a technical writer for government projects, Jimmy moved to Connecticut to work as a Practice Administrator for a good friends medical practice.
He was an avid tennis player, enjoyed time spent with close buddies and holidays with his family and was a devoted son to his mother, Nancy.
He leaves behind his six siblings; Karen Moody (Eric), Robert Murray (Denise), Michael Murray (Jeanne), Abby Bearwood (Allen), Edward Murray, Sr. Virginia Dionne (Scott). He also leaves 11 nieces and nephews.
The Funeral will be held Saturday with visitation beginning at 9am in the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home, 230 Waterman St., Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in the Church of the Holy Name, Camp St., Providence.
