Obituary for Francis "Frank" Cahill
Francis B. Cahill, 88, from Providence and East Greenwich, RI and Naples, FL passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, May 27. He was born on December 10, 1929 in Providence, RI to Francis A. and Mary (Masterson) Cahill. His younger brother was Gerald G. Cahill (deceased). Frank attended La Salle Academy and Providence College. During the Korean War, he was a member of the Coast Guard. On June 25, 1960 he married the love his life Dolores Artesani and together they had two children. Frank worked in sales at NYNEX for most of his career, a job he truly loved. Frank was a lifelong, avid golfer and devoted Patriots fan. He never missed a game and had encyclopedic knowledge of every player’s stats. During his retirement, Frank and his wife spent 20 years traveling the world. Those who knew him describe him as an optimist who was always cheerful, gregarious and passionate about life. His biggest passion was his family, who he loved dearly. Frank leaves behind his wife Dolores Cahill, daughter Christine Cahill (Scott Doggett), son Michael Cahill (Yolanda Cahill) and two beloved grandchildren Derrick and Ava.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, June 1, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Monahan Drabble Sherman, 230 Waterman Street, Providence, RI. The funeral will take place on Saturday, June 2 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Sebastian Catholic Parish, 67 Cole Ave., Providence, RI. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org
