Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Caswell
Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Caswell, 87, of North Farm, Bristol, died unexpectedly Saturday, April 23th at home. She was the wife of the late Robert B. Caswell.
Born in Portland, ME a daughter of the late Walter T. and Frances Josephine (McLaughlin) Day she was a Bristol resident for  15 years
Betty was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for many years. She was a daily communicant of St Mary of the Bay parish in Warren and a quiet benefactor of many charities. During World War II, she served as a WAVE. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Portland, ME and the University of Maine at Orono.
She leaves a daughter; M. Alexandra Rutter and her husband Laurence of Bristol, 2 grandchildren; Miles C. Rutter of New York City and Antonia A. Rutter of Bristol.   She was the mother of the late M. Consuela “Connie” Caswell and sister of the late Walter T. Day, Jr.  A faithful friend, she will be missed by all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10am in St Sebastian Church, Cole Ave. Burial will follow in Swan Point Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 4-7pm in the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home, 230 Waterman St., Providence. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the The Bristol Animal Shelter, 395 Metacom Avenue, Bristol, RI  02809
