Obituary for Edmund Pomon
Commander Edmund S. Pomon, 92, of 203 Cole Avenue, Providence, RI, died Friday  at Berkshire Place after a period of declining health. He was a retired military officer and plant engineer.
Cmdr. Pomon was the husband of Marcia (Irving) Pomon. He served in the U.S. government for 33 years until retiring in 1980. He graduated from the U.S. Maritime Service Officers Training as Ensign, he served in the U.S. Merchant Marine, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, MA National Guard, and was Chief Engineer in the U.S. Coast Guard. He took command of engineering of one of the largest ships in the U.S. which was torpedoed at the Anzio beachhead resulting in repairs which were under his direction. Mr. Pomon attained the rank of Commander at the age of 27. He held numerous positions in his civilian life. He was Vice President/General Manager and Plant Engineer for Mack trucks of Allentown, PA, General Dynamics of North Kingstown, RI, Providence School Department, Marine Midland Bank of Syracuse, NY, Rockwell International of Hopedale, MA and Laribee Machine and Manufacturing Co in NY.
He was also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Institute of Plant Engineers, American Institute of Safety Engineers, the Naval Reserve Officers Association, the U.S. Army National Guard, the American Legion and the AARP.
Commander Pomon attended the Church of St. Sebastian and served as a volunteer engineer and church usher.
In addition to his wife Marcia, he leaves his nephew, Arthur Dobreski of Menifee, CA and his niece, Pam Jackson of Medfield, MA , many grand nieces and nephews and numerous friends. His personal credo was "Always contented but never completely satisfied". He was a force of nature and will be missed.
Visiting hours will be at Monahan, Drabble & Sherman, 230 Waterman St, Providence, on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of St. Sebastian, 67 Cole Ave., Providence at 11am.. Internment with full military honors will follow at the Mayflower Hill Cemetery in Taunton, MA. Friends and family are cordially invited.
 

Calling hours Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St Sebastian Church, Cole Ave., Providence.
