Obituary for Robert D. Taylor
Robert D. Taylor, 76, of Narragansett died Monday at the Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Jane (Procter) Taylor.
Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late George G. and Margaret (McCarthy) Taylor, he lived on the East Side of Providence most of his life moving to Bonnet Shores 6 years ago.
Bob was an active third generation member of the family real estate development and management company, Taylor Realty and later with his children, the 4th generation, in Fleetwood Management. He was the proud holder of a low real estate license number.
Bob was a long time sponsor of amateur slow pitch softball starting with the Taylor Construction teams that won multiple RI State championships and later as a co-sponsor with his late brother Bill, a former competitor, of the Taylor Brothers teams that won numerous National Slow Pitch titles.
An avid sports fan, he followed the former R.I. Reds and was a long time season ticket holder of the Boston Red Sox.
He leaves two sons: Ryan H (April) Taylor of Warwick and R. Logan Taylor of East Providence, a daughter; Leigh Anne Taylor of Warwick. He was the brother of the late William R. “Bill” Taylor and of George G. “Greg” Taylor III of Narragansett.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 10am in St Agnes Church, Chatham St., Providence. Burial will follow in Swan Point Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 4-8pm in the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral home 230 Waterman St., Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to A Wish Come True, 1010 Warwick Avenue Warwick, RI 02888.
