Obituary for Robert S Balch
Robert Stephen Balch, 72, Providence, passed away April 13, 2014, at home. He was born February 18, 1942, in New York City, son of the late George and Frances (High) Balch. He is survived by his brother William Balch (Yvonne), Altoona, PA; sister Margaret Balch-Gonzalez (Enrique), Providence; nieces, Pilar Gonzalez (Rob) and Laura Mahan (Sean); nephew, Martin Gonzalez; great-nephew Felix Mahan; cousins, David (Lisa) Balch, Raymond (Cathy) Freer, and Richard (Rosemary) Freer.
Bob graduated from Kimball Union Academy in 1960, worked for Western Union in Providence and New York City, and Verizon in Taunton, MA, retiring from the latter in 2005. He enjoyed reading and traveling, and his happiest times were spent with his family.
A memorial service will be held at the First Unitarian Church of Providence on Sunday, June 8, at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Rochambeau Library, 708 Hope Street, Providence, Rhode Island 02906
