Obituary for Yolanda Shinn
PROVIDENCE
Yolanda Mary (Tomasetti) Shinn, 96, died peacefully at home on July 26, 2014.  Born in Wooster, Ohio, she moved to Providence from Pensacola, Florida in  2000.  Yolanda was the beloved wife for 58 years of William Shinn, daughter of Emidio and Clelia Tomasetti and sister of Mrs. Anthony Mastrian (Edith), Mrs. Ellsworth Fetzer (Florence), Benjamin Tomasetti, and Alexander Tomasetti, and grandmother of Christopher Pennypacker, all of whom pre-deceased her.

She is survived by daughter Madeleine Shinn and her husband Kenneth Eliot, of Cambridge, MD, son Michael Shinn and his wife Mae, of New Britain, CT., and daughter Monica Shinn and her girlfriend, Mare Davis, of Providence, RI, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Yolanda was a famous cook, life-long bridge player, and Red Sox fan.  For the first 30 years of marriage she was a Navy officer's wife, supporting the young families of sailors under her husband's command.  She had the gift of friendship and will be greatly missed by many people of all ages, including her dear friends Fatimatu Sulaiman, Lori MacDougal, and Kathleen Clark

Funeral arrangements will be private, with burial at Arlington National Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Civil Liberties Union.
