Obituary for Helen Ruby Whitford
Providence;Â Helen R. Whitford (Briggs), 78, has passed on peacefully on October 3, 2014 surrounded by her children at her home in Providence after a long courageous battle with cancer.
She was a daughter of the late Ernest E. and Bertha (Rathier) Briggs.
She was the beautiful, caring, beloved mother of six. After many years as a dedicated homemaker she went on to become a CAN at Cedar Crest Nursing Home in Cranston where she earned certificates and awards for her many achievements. From there she went to MPC in East Providence where she worked as a mail processing clerk until her retirement at age 65.
Missing her will be her children: Arthur W. Whitford of Wisconsin, Denise V. Whitford-Repoza and husband Mark of North Providence, Kevin E Whitford and Wife Donna (Anderson) of Scituate, Clayton M. Whitford of Providence, Jesse T. Whitford of Michigan and Jacob T. Whitford of Chepachet.
Also left behind are her brothers and sisters: Richard Briggs and his wife Betty of Pennsylvania, Donald Briggs and his wife Diane of Maine, Marion Brown of Johnston, Carol Maine and her husband Doug of Vermont, her step sister Dorothy Trahan of Alabama. Sister of the late Pauline Rogers. Â Predeceased by her late husband John.
She had six grandchildren; Jessica, Jason, Lorissa, Randall, Steven and Amanda. Five great grandchildren; Ashley, Isabel, Faith, Jake and Katelyn. Many step grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Sadly missed…..

And feel her smile upon us
With the warm suns’ glow.
Rest in peace dear Mother, forever, rest in peace.
At her request a memorial gathering and celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI 1045 North Main St, Providence, RI.
