Obituary for Jean Fitz Buffum
Jean Fitz Buffum, of Providence died peacefully at home with family on December 28, 2014. She was age 92. She spent her childhood in Brookline Massachusetts where she went to the Park School and the Winsor School. She attended Radcliffe College at the outbreak of World War II. On a blind date, she met Navy Lieut. Bill Buffum of Providence. They were happily married for over 60 years. She spent most of her adult life in Providence and Little Compton. She was an enthusiastic oil and watercolor painter and an artist member of the Providence Art Club. She is survived by her five children: Paul, Jenny (Chamberlin), Phoebe (Cook), Bill and Harry, their spouses, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two sisters, one sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Her husband and two brothers predeceased her. A service will be held at the Swan Point Cemetery on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 2PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 1085 North Main Street, Providence RI 02904.
