Obituary for Edwin M. Jorge
Edwin M. Jorge, 85 died Tuesday at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. A lifelong resident of the Fox Point section of Providence, he was a son of the late Manuel F. and Lutina (Machado) Jorge.
Edwin worked for the former New England Telephone Company as a lineman and then as an inspector for over 35 years until retiring. He served in the Marines during the Korean War.
He was a member of the Portuguese Sportsman Club and the Fox Point Boys and Girls Club. He was a huge fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He was also an avid bicyclist and rode in several MS 150’s.
He leaves two daughters: Donna Jorge of Pawtucket and Jo-Ann Gallo of Warwick and was the father of the late Jeffrey Jorge. He also leaves his grandchildren: Kristen Swanson and Adam Swanson (Stephanie Nickse), Andrew Gallo and John Gallo (Giselle) as well as 2 great grandchildren: Audrey and Samantha Swanson.
The funeral will be held Friday at 11am in the Monahan, Drabble & Sherman Funeral Home, 230 Waterman Street Providence with calling hours beginning at 10am. Burial will be private. Donation in his memory may be made to Fox Point Boys & Girls Club.
