Obituary for H. Allen Harrison

H. Allen “AL” Harrison , 84, of Bristol, Rhode Island passed peacefully August 10 at the Hope Hospice in Providence. He was the husband of 64 years to Linda Nichols Harrison.

Born in Providence a son of the late Alfred and Barbara (Allen) Harrison he had also lived in Barrington.

AL worked for many years in the family business A. Harrison Chemical Company in North Providence.

He attended Providence Country Day School and graduated Worcester Academy and Nichols College.

He was a former member of the R.I. Country Club, Crestwood Country Club and the Dunes Club. AL was a devoted sports fan attending R.I. Reds, Boston Bruins and the Providence Bruins and was a season ticket holder to the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He was also an avid runner and a member of the Ocean State Runners Club and ran in eleven marathons including Ocean State, New York, Boston and Montreal Marathons.

AL had a passion for golf and enjoyed playing many of the New England courses.

Besides his wife he leaves a son David Allen Harrison and was the father of the late Betsey Ward Harrison.

He was brother of Richard R. Harrison and Nina Nichols Harrison. Uncle of John “Jay” Harrison, brother-in-law of Earl Nichols Jr., Julie, William, Laurie and Paula Nichols.

AL will always be remembered for his warm and friendly smile. Burial was private. Donations in his memory may be made to the Hope Hospice Center, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
