Obituary for Elizabeth Frances Nagle Selle
Elizabeth (Bette) Frances Nagle Selle, passed on Tuesday July 31st, 2018.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on January 31st, 1920 to Ruth Sarah Hayden and Arthur Rosengarten Nagle, she attended Lincoln and Katherine Gibbs schools in Providence, RI. She had one sister, Ruth Clothilde Nagle Whitford, who recently celebrated her 100th birthday. She went on to marry Earl Albert Selle and raise 3 children; Peter, Terry, and Rebecca, first as an ex-pat in Hong Kong in the 1950’s, and later as a working single mother in Providence, RI, where she rose to become one of the first women stockbrokers at GH Walker, and Vice President of estates and trusts at RI Hospital Trust Bank.
She was active in her church, Central Congregational, and served on various boards including Tockwotten Home, where she became a resident in 2018.
She was a brilliant, strong, beautiful woman who will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
There will be a memorial service in September. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her name to Hamilton House 276 Angell St, Providence RI.
