Obituary for Robert C. Crowell
Robert C. Crowell, 80, died June 12, 2018 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice in Providence. He was the husband of Judith (Paige) Crowell
Born in Providence a son of the late Robert and Dorothy (Richards) Crowell, he was a Providence resident most of his life but had also lived in Warwick.
He was the Controller of the former Outlet Company in Providence prior to its closing. He later worked at the Interfaith Counseling Center. He also worked and volunteered at PPAC and the Veterans Memorial Auditorium and also volunteered at First night, Providence, and the Alpha 1 Foundation, Trinity Repertory Company, the Unitarian Universalist Association, Ballou Channing District.
He was the longtime treasurer and president of the first Universalist Church in Providence.
He loved to travel and was very proud of the many excursions he was able to make in the last several years with his friend Nancy Libby Fisher.
Besides his wife he leaves a daughter: Deborah Deignan and her husband Timothy of Coventry and their children Shaun and Jayme. He also leaves a sister Carolyn Winsor (Philip) and 2 brothers: David G. (Peggy) Crowell and Richard D. Crowell. He was brother of the late Judith Bakula.
Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service on Tuesday at 11am in the Historic Chapel of Swan Point Cemetery, Blackstone Blvd. Providence with visitation beginning at 10AM. Donations in his memory may be made to Alpha 1 Foundation, 3300 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Miami, FL. 33134.
