Michaela A. Keough (MacManus) of Warwick RI passed away peacefully on January 1st 2023, aged 80. Michaela was the beloved wife of Richard P. Keough, and the daughter of John and Alice MacManus (Jordan) who all predeceased her. She is survived by her loving son Christopher J. Keough, her five siblings, Jack, Maggie Hayes, Norine Bonanno, Jim and Kevin, eleven nieces and nephews, her sister-in-law Mary Ellen Keough, and many other relatives and friends.
Michaela was born and raised in Providence. She spent summers in Matunuck where she first met her future husband, Richard and settled in Warwick. They spent many happy years with family and friends gathered around them each summer at Matunuck Beach, which always held a special place in their hearts, and played such a central role in so many happy and enduring memories.
Michaela worked for many years at Rhode Island College serving the administration in Student Affairs, before eventually returning to school to earn a Master of Arts degree. She subsequently worked as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor until her retirement.
Michaela’s love of the ocean, of swimming, of reading and, of course, of her family, were all sources of enormous joy. She also drew great strength from practicing her faith. She trusted in God as the source of goodness and mercy, and faithfully attended mass throughout her life. In recent years she particularly loved listening to Father Gagne's homilies, and took much comfort in reading and reflecting on holy scripture. Her prayerful and contemplative life became a wellspring of great strength, enabling Michaela to be an unfailing support to others in their time of need.
Michaela always made sure that her son, Christopher, knew that she loved him with her whole heart, and her life of compassion and dedicated service will undoubtedly remain a guiding light in his life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held to honor Michaela’s life at 11am on Friday January 6, 2023 at St Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 350 Fair Street, Warwick RI 02888.
