Obituary for Guy Rogers Buzzell
Guy Rogers Buzzell of Providence, Rhode Island, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, December 23rd, 2021. Guy was born in Patterson, New Jersey on October 1st, 1950 to Paul and Ruthmary Buzzell. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Bonnie Good Buzzell, their son, William Buzzell, and his wife, Cara Collins Buzzell. Guy was predeceased by his son, Joseph, and leaves behind his older brother, Lloyd Buzzell.
Guy attended Kent School (Class of 1968) in Kent, Connecticut where he made lifelong friends, some good music (and some not-so-good music). He attended Brown University (Class of 1972) in Providence, Rhode Island, majored in English, and made more music and lifelong friends (including Bonnie).
Guy and Bonnie settled in Providence. Guy spent a long banking and finance career locally at Peoples Bank, Old Stone Bank, Advest, and Merrill Lynch, from which he retired in February 2021. Guy was a devoted Episcopalian. At the time of his death, he was a parishioner at Church of the Redeemer, Providence. He was an avid reader, a proud member of the Vassar Avenue Literary Society, and looked forward to participating in the Providence Athenaeum and the Lifelong Learning Community, both of which he recently joined. Guy spent all of his childhood summers at Camp Sangamon in Vermont, and shared his love of the outdoors by going to mountains and beaches with Bonnie. Both were thrilled to join Roy Carpenter Beach in 2019.
Guy blessed and was blesssed with wonderful friends who enjoyed his wry humor, kindness and graceful manner. We will all miss him.
There will be no visiting hours at this time. Burial will be private at Swan Point Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Providence Community Library in Guy's name at https://www.provcomlib.org/support-pcl
