Obituary for Arlene W. Taylor
Arlene W. Taylor (Hamilton), age 85, of Middletown, RI, passed away on August 23, 2021 at Newport Hospital.
Arlene was born at home in Barrington, RI to the late Charles and Viola (Vance) Hamilton. She graduated from Barrington High School and married her high school sweetheart George (Bobby) Walton. After Bobby’s unexpected death she later married Burton Taylor.
Arlene loved having family around her whenever possible hosting Christmas dinner or Christmas Eve get - togethers at her house for the entire family as long as she was physically able to do so. She loved having visitors as she became housebound and would sit and chat for hours. You could often find her working on a jigsaw puzzle, playing games on her computer, watching her favorite soap opera, or enjoying soft serve ice cream from Frostee Freeze. Known as a “straight-shooter” Arlene told it like it was, never one to mince words. We will miss her smile, her hugs and kisses and her love.
Arlene is survived by her three children; Barbara Walton-Faria (Stephen) and Denise Lamanna both of Middletown, and Burton Taylor Jr. of Providence and her beloved grandchildren Gabriel Faria, Brianne Lamanna, and Amy Lamanna. She is also survived by her brother Joseph Hamilton of Massachusetts. Arlene is preceded in death by her brother James Hamilton of South Carolina.
Arlene’s dream of having a career in medicine will finally come to fruition; she has generously donated her body to science through The Anatomical Gift Program at the Warren Alpert Medical of Brown University where medical students will benefit from her gift. As such and as per her wishes there will be no services.
