Obituary for James L. Cota
James L. Cota, 71, of Warwick died peacefully surrounded by his family in Providence. He was the father of Kristina Cirillo (Michael), Kimberly Cota (Justin Nightingale) and Dawn Cota.

Born in Los Angeles, a son of the late Jose Cota and Lilian (Cox) Cota Lementowicz. He was a Warwick resident for 17 years.

Jim was a member of the Providence Fire Department for 13 years, retiring due to a line of duty disability. Leaving the department, he pursued several different entrepreneurial endeavors, including American Video, which he ran for many years. Most recently he was the national field manager for Fernlea Flowers.

Jim was a jack of all trades. He had a love for movies and football, especially the New England Patriots and Tom Brady. He enjoyed boating, fishing and traveling, but most of all being with his family and friends no matter where they may be. He was a member of the Pawtuxet Athletic Club and was a charter member of the Pawtuxet Men’s Society (PMS).

Besides his daughters he leaves his grandchildren Michael and Milena Cirillo, and Julian Nightingale. He was the brother to Robert Cota (Karen), Joe Cota (Gail) Ricky Cota, Mary Simao (Jim), Anthony Lementowicz (Jessica) and many nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4-7pm in the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home, 230 Waterman St., Providence with a service to follow at 7pm. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd. Suite 3004, Warwick, R.I. 02886
