Obituary for Laurie K. Galia
Laurie Klein Galia, 68, of Tiverton Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on Monday March 27, 2017 surrounded by family.

Born in Alexandria, Virginia; she was the daughter of the late Eugene Louis Klein and the late Donna Gough Hayes; the step-daughter of Barbara Klein and the late Ambassador John S. Hayes.

Laurie attended Holton-Arms School where she was the president of the class of 1967 and will be greatly missed this month at her 50th reunion. She graduated from Beaver College in 1971 with a major in Sociology and a minor in Criminology.

Laurie went into social work for a short time before joining Wanamaker's in 1973. Over the next twenty years she served as a security supervisor, manager, regional manager and director of security. During Wanamaker's demolition and reconstruction, she directed the overall security of tens of millions of dollars of merchandise and over 5,000 employees. Laurie had a steady rise in responsibility and finished her career as the director of security for the 2 million square foot Wanamaker flagship store in Center City, Philadelphia. She is remembered as a mentor and role model to many.

In 1994, celebrating her love for antiques and decorative arts, Laurie opened Frog Pool Pond Antiques in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Laurie was the quintessence of class and style and a master of creating beautiful interiors.

In 2011 after making Tiverton, Rhode Island her home, Laurie began working for Anthi Frangiadis Associates. She managed the artisan work, visual merchandising and design sales through special events. Laurie was a member of The Sakonnet Point Club and St. Andrews by the Sea, where she developed many new lifelong friendships.

Laurie will be remembered as the loving sister of Rhea, Peter, Jonathan, David & Jay; the proud aunt of Laurie, Peter, Marshall, Macy, Christopher, Tory, John, Laura, Charlotte and Wendy; the trusted friend to many and as a strong, thoughtful, independent thinking woman by all.
Gracious, unpretentious and loyal, Laurie will be truly missed and in our hearts forever.

A special thank you to the team at Hope Hospice for their loving care and support. Contributions in Laurie's name may be made to Hope Hospice, 1085 North Main Street Providence, RI 02904 or Holton-Arms School class of 1967, 7303 River Road Bethesda, MD 20817.
