Obituary for Kathleen Harris Anderson
Kathleen Harris Anderson, a lifelong resident of Providence, Rhode Island, passed away on January 30, 2017, with her family by her side. Daughter of Benjamin Pearce Harris, Jr. and Lucy Winter Joseph Harris, Kathleen was an active supporter of local charities, and served as president of the Governor Stephen Hopkins House, the president of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in Rhode Island and was on the Board of Lady Visitors at Women and Infants Hospital. She was a long-time parishioner at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, and a member of the Agawam Hunt Club, Sakonnet Golf Club, and Warren’s Point Beach Club. Kathleen was a dedicated bridge player at the Bridge Club of Rhode Island.
Kathleen is survived by her loving children: Pamela Marsden of North Stonington, CT; James and Sharon Anderson of Bethel, CT; Cushing Anderson and Sue Kazanas of Boston, MA; Jason Anderson and Diane Merdian of Little Compton, RI; and granddaughters Sarah and Elizabeth Anderson of Wilton, CT. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Anderson.
There will be a memorial service on March 18, 2017, at 10:30 am at St. Martins Church on Orchard Ave. in Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
