Obituary for Jean Allen
Jean Leslie Allen, formerly of Providence passed away peacefully on Tuesday at Heatherwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Newport.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Reginald and Annette (Farrell) Allen. She was a Providence resident for many years.
Jean was a graduate of Elmhurst Academy in Providence, she attended Trinity College in Washington DC and Georgetown Law School and was a graduate of George Washington University. Jean won the R.I. Junior Miss pageant in 1962 and went on to be crowned America’s Junior Miss for the same year.
She is survived by her son: John Stein, DVM of Madison , WI, 2 brothers: Paul Allen, MD of Los Angeles, CA, and Marc Allen (Margaret) of Sarasota, FL. and a sister: Georgia Allen of Rumford. She was the sister of the late Reginald Allen, Jr.
The family will receive friends ON FRIDAY beginning at 10:00am in the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home 230 Waterman St., Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St Sebastian Church, Cole Ave., Providence. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to Kindred Hospice, 2374 Post Rd., Warwick, RI 02886.
