Obituary for Catherine N. Ziegelmayer
Catherine N. Ziegelmayer, 92, of Pawtucket passed away peacefully at home on Monday surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Albert Ziegelmayer.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late James and Mary (O’Donnell) Noonan, she was a Pawtucket resident most of her life. She was a lifelong communicant of St Mary’s Church.
She was a graduate of Pawtucket East High School , Class of 1942 and immediately went to work supporting the American War effort, first at the Pawtucket Armory and then at Walsh Kaiser Shipyards in Providence where she assisted in the construction of assault cargo ships essential to the war effort.
After the war she worked for the Department of Social Welfare in Providence leaving to start a family.
Her real happiness was with her family. She is survived by 7 children: Anne Ziegelmayer of Pawtucket, Alan S. Ziegelmayer and his wife Katie of Charlestown, May Ellen Ziegelmayer of Providence, John T. Ziegelmayer and his wife Julie of Pawtucket, Kevin Ziegelmayer and his wife Debra of Rehoboth, Eric J. Ziegelmayer of Hannawa Falls, NY and Catherine M. Reeder of Pawtucket, her beloved grandchildren Sarah Ziegelmayer-Short, Stephen Ziegelmayer, Jonathon, Emily, Ryan Ziegelmayer, Kelly Ziegelmayer Sienko, Jenna Ziegelmayer, Nicholas & Camryn Reeder as well as 3 great grandchildren Wilhemina Ziegelmayer, Hunter and Hazel Sienko. She was the sister of the late Edward and John Noonan.
The Funeral will be held Friday at 9:30 from the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home 230 Waterman St., Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 in St. Mary’s Church, Pine St., Pawtucket. Burial will be in St Francis Cemetery. Calling hours are omitted. Donations in her memory to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
