Vera van Marx Metcalf was born in Holland on October 14, 1923. She was the wife of Houghton P. Metcalf, mother of Stephen A. Metcalf of Providence, the late Katharine Sheldon and the late Sheila Cronin.
Mrs. Metcalf died on January 23, 2022. The burial will be private. In accordance with Vera's wishes, there will be no memorial service. Mrs. Metcalf was a long time resident of Providence and Exeter, Rhode Island.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Nature Conservancy of Rhode Island and the Rhode Island School of Design Museum Conservation Fund.
