Obituary for Thomas J. Corrigan, Sr.
Thomas J. Corrigan, 74, of Rumford passed away Saturday, June 13, at the Roger Williams Medical Center after a valiant, dignified battle with leukemia.  He was the loving husband of Arlene (McAteer) Corrigan for 52 years.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Francis V. Corrigan, M.D., and Mary C. (Goggin) Corrigan.  He was a Rumford resident for 44 years and also a resident of Hallandale Beach, FL.
Tom was the Chief Securities Examiner for the Department of Business  Regulation for 29 years before retiring in 1998.  A 1958 Graduate of East Providence High School, he also graduated from Johnson & Wales.  He had been Supervisory Committee Chairman of the R.I. State Employees Credit Union in the 1970s.  He had been an officer in his employees union, and president of his condo association.
Besides his wife he leaves his daughter: Elizabeth S. Jenkins (Adam), Valley Village, CA; 2 sons: Thomas J. Corrigan Jr. and Francis V. Corrigan (Kristen Petersen), both of Providence.  He was also Papa to his cherished grandchildren: Sophie, Olivia, and Kelsey Corrigan; and a step-grandson, Anderson T. Malaikal.  Tom leaves 4 brothers:  Francis V. Corrigan of Silver Spring, MD; John E. Corrigan of Providence; James J. Corrigan of Norfolk, VA; and Donald W. Corrigan of Gaithersburg, MD.
Tom was a devoted husband, father and Papa, and he was blessed with many friends.  An avid golfer, he also enjoyed boating, mysteries, warm winters, telling jokes, and spending time with family and friends.  Tom was an excellent problem solver, and his advice was sought by many.
The funeral will be held Friday at 9am from the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home, 230 Waterman St., Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial in St Margaret Church, 1098 Pawtucket Ave., Rumford at 10am, and burial at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours Thursday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the RI Blood Center, 405 Promenade St., Providence, RI 02908 or Amos House, 415 Friendship St., Providence, RI 02907.
