Obituary for Susan Rogers Henderson

Susan Rogers Henderson, 81, of North Kingstown, passed away Saturday, September 13.

She is survived by her daughter Jill Sipala and her husband Tony, her two sons Brett Henderson and Scott Pooler and her grandchildren Will, Lucas and Nick, and her nephews Craig and Chris along with countless cousins in California. Susan was very proud of her children and grandchildren and loved them immensely.

Born in Wichita, KS, Susan was a daughter of the late Milford & Elizabeth (Gannon) Rogers. She was the sister of the late Sarah Mancini and James Rogers.

Susan moved to Rhode Island with her family when she was two years old and lived off of Narragansett Parkway in Warwick. She attended Elmhurst Academy in high school and graduated from the Chamberland School of Retailing in Boston, MA.

She began her career as a writer for Women’s Wear Daily and enjoyed the sun-soaked beaches and skiing the mountains while living and working in California. She settled in Pennsylvania to raise her family and began her own business called Beauty for All Seasons as a stylist and color consultant. She would later parlay her experience into a variety of stylist and makeup consultant positions for Filene’s and Macy’s when she moved back to Rhode Island in the early 1990s.

Susan truly had a zest for life. She had a great sense of humor and warmth about her. She was an avid gardener, fantastic cook, loved playing tennis, sailing with her friends and reading a good book while at the beach. She traveled to places like Egypt, Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands, and France with friends and family. She had a ball visiting her cousins Majorie and Larry Lewis in California and going to Maui, HI with them and their children. Susan was an avid movie goer. She also enjoyed having a delicious lunch or dinner and glasses of fine wine with her friends and family.

In following the path of her sister Sarah Mancini, Susan donated her body to the Warren-Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 10am in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 275 Tower Hill Road in North Kingstown.
