After five years of relentlessly heroic fight against ovarian cancer, Shawna passed away in peace and comfort on Tuesday, July 29th.
As a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, clinician, researcher, teacher, mentor, musician, biker, gardener, runner, caretaker of animals, and karate practitioner, she gave every role in her life 110%. Honesty, hard work, refusal to give up, and empathy were the pillars that she built here on Earth. Those pillars are immortal.
A memorial service and a light reception will take place at her spiritual home, Calvary United Methodist Church in Middletown, Rhode Island on Saturday, August 9th at 1:00 PM. The reception will be held in the space where Shawna and her family joyfully hosted coffee hours through March of this year.
Shawna will always inspire her husband, Michael, her children, Eliana and Benjamin, her mother, Maribeth, her father and stepmother, John and Catherine, her sister, Taryn, her brother-in-law, Justin, her niece and nephew, Hanna and Owen, many other family members, and innumerable friends and colleagues.
