Sharon L. (Erickson) Harrison, 79, of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, died July 13, 2023, surrounded by loved ones, after battling rheumatoid arthritis and cancer.
She was born in Florida, the daughter of the late Herbert Erickson and Evelyn (Burt) Erickson, and grew up moving between there and New Hampshire. Sharon graduated from high school in Westminster, Massachusetts, and attended Gordon College in Wenham, MA, where she met her late husband Timothy A. Harrison. They were married in 1964. They eventually settled in North Kingstown, RI, where they raised their six children.
Sharon was passionate about many things and lived life to the fullest; she did not want to miss out on anything. She greatly loved music and singing, flowers and birds (especially cardinals), and was interested in all God’s little creatures. She was dedicated to her family, traditions, and church involvement, including foreign missions. Her home was always open for hospitality. Sharon had a great sense of adventure which included motorcycles, trains, and traveling. And she dearly loved the ocean (and lighthouses); she felt a calm and peacefulness there by the sea. Now she rests with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in her heavenly home.
Sharon is survived by her six children: Cheryl J. Rodriguez (husband Elmer) of Woonsocket, Bonnie L. Schaffer (husband James R.) of West Warwick, Rebecca M. Graham (husband Mark W.) of Pennsylvania, Alicia R. Sherwood (husband Robert A.) of North Kingstown, Jonathan D. Harrison (wife Marjorie A.) of West Greenwich, and Daniel T. Harrison (wife Katherine E.) of Texas; 19 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; brother Steven J. Erickson; sister Sally Gaedtke (husband James); and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Susan Darling Peach. We all will miss her.
A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, July 25 at 7:00 pm at Exeter Chapel, 765 Ten Rod Road, Exeter, RI, with a collation to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
