Obituary for Sarah Rogers Mancini
Sarah Rogers Mancini, 81, of North Kingstown, passed away Saturday, June 6th at Greenwood Nursing Center in Warwick.
Born in Wichita, KS, a daughter of the late Milford & Elizabeth (Gannon) Rogers.
She is survived by her son Craig Mancini and his wife Charlene of Cranston, and her sister Susan Henderson of Warwick. She was the mother of the late Keith Mancini who perished in the Station Nightclub fire, and sister of the late Jame Rogers. She leaves behind grandchildren Elyssa, Albert, Dimitri and Rachael, niece Jill Sipala, husband Tony along with nephews Brett Henderson and Scott Pooler.
She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the Dunbarton College of Holy Cross in Washington, DC and received her Master’s Degree from Providence College and University of Rhode Island. Sarah taught elementary and middle schools in Cranston, Warwick and Coventry before becoming the Assistant Educational Director for RISPCA, a position she held for 25 years.
After the death of her son Keith, she became very involved with the Station NightClub Memorial Foundation. She enjoyed traveling, attending performing arts and reading an occasional good novel. She had a knack of finding quant local restaurants and sharing the experience with her friends. Sarah was an avid cat lover and at one point bred Himalayan cats.
In continuing her generosity for education, Sarah donated her body to the Warren-Albert School of Medicine at Brown University. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, June 15th at 10am in Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hills Dr., Cranston, RI.
