Sandra Jean Hannan, 80, of Barrington and Block Island, died peacefully Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at home with her husband William M. Hannan and family by her side.
Born in San Francisco, she was a daughter of the late George and Ingrid (Erickson) Murch, she was a Barrington resident for over 50 years
She was a special education teacher in Norton, MA for 35 years until retiring. She was also very artistic and enjoyed sewing and working with crushed flowers.
Sandra enjoyed boating to and from Block Island and working with her husband on their two houses. They also enjoyed walking around the island. She was the neighborhood mother to the children who grew up around her. The family wants to give special thanks to the caregivers and Beacon Hospice who took such good care of her.
Besides her husband she leaves nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was sister of the late Christine Murch.
Calling hours will be at the Monahan Drabble & Williams Funeral Home, 210 Taunton Avenue, East Providence on Tuesday, May 26, from 4 to 7. The funeral will be on Wednesday, May 27 at 11am in The Historic Chapel of Swan Point Cemetery, Blackstone Blvd. in Providence, followed by burial. Donations in her memory may be made to Beacon Hospice 1 Catamore Blvd. East Providence, RI 02914.
