Obituary for Ruth K. Church
Ruth K. Church died on March 12, 2017. She was married for 65 years. Her family included her husband, Russell Church, her son Kenneth Church and his wife, Justine Voulgaris, her daughter, Emily Moore and her husband Gregg Moore, and her sister, Judith Meyer, her grandchildren, Kyle Moore and his wife, Leah Carter, Brian Moore and Benjamin Voulgaris Church.
Ruth was born in New Rochelle, and moved to Washington, D.C. when she was 9 years until college. For more than 40 years, Ruth moved from houses on the East Side of Providence from Benefit St., Medway St., Penrose Av., and to Abbotsford Ct. She became a real estate broker, one of the first women on the East Side. She focused on finding the house that a person was looking for.
When she retired from real estate, she continued to be active. From primary school through the rest of her life, she went to libraries and read books. And, with her retirement, she had more time to read. She was a member of a book club and a member of the “Women of Brown Walking Group” and she had many friends.
Gifts can be made to Rochambeau Library, P.O. Box 9267, Providence, RI 02940 for books, or for the support of trees or animals. There will be a service in Manning Hall/Chapel on Sunday, April 23 at 2pm.
