Robert Joseph McManus passed away peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2024, at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Madeleine B. (Lamoureux) McManus.
A lifelong resident of Rumford, he was the son of the late Terence and Florence McManus.
A Navy veteran, Bob proudly served on the East Providence Fire Department for 30 years, retiring as Captain in the Fire Marshal’s office in 1992. Throughout his life, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, coaching Rumford Little League softball and CYO basketball, as well as taking trips to Lake George, NY. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Margaret Church.
Bob leaves four children: Craig McManus, his wife Elizabeth, Debra Marzetta, her husband Jon, both of Rumford, Susan Taylor, her husband Richard, of Ocala Florida, and Christine Couturier, her husband Michael, of Westport. He will be sadly missed by his six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Calling hours for relatives and friends will be Monday, December 30, from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home, 210 Taunton Ave. East Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, December 31, at 10:00 am at St Margaret Church, Pawtucket Ave. Rumford. Burial will follow in Mount St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center.
