Obituary for Robert J. McGarry
Robert J. McGarry, age 85, of East Providence, RI, died on Friday, August 16, 2013 of a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Doris S. McGarry. Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late John B. and Margaret M. (Flynn) McGarry.

Bob was a graduate of Classical High School, Providence, Harvard College, and Harvard Law School, Cambridge, MA. He was a partner in the law firm Tillinghast, Collins and Graham prior to his retirement. He was an avid photographer and world traveler and enjoyed playing golf.
He leaves two children, Aron Viner (Maria) of Cambridge and Rowley, Massachusetts and Samara Viner-Brown (Peter). He was the loving grandfather of Max Viner of Rowley, Chloe (Shane) Collins of South Royalton, Vermont, and Tristan Viner-Brown of Brooklyn, New York. He was the brother of the late John B. McGarry, Jr.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the Monahan, Drabble and Sherman Funeral Home, 230 Waterman Street, Providence. His funeral will be held on Thursday, August 22, at 9:00 a.m. from the Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Sebastian Church, 67 Cole Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. 
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, RI Chapter, 1210 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920 (www.lls.org).
