Obituary for Raymond Gaillaguet
Raymond L. Gaillaguet, 90, of Rumford, died Wednesday at home. He was the Husband of the late Denise (Saillat) Gaillaguet. Born in Paris, France, a son of the late Emile and Yvonne (Herve) Gaillaguet, he was a Rumford resident for many years.
Mr. Gaillaguet attended the Sorbonne in Paris and was a Cum Laude graduate in accounting from Bryant College. Most of his career was spent as owner of Emile’s of Paris, a hairdressing shop in Wayland Square in Providence.
He was a member of the OSS during World War II and parachuted into France 3 times during German Occupation. He was the Past President and for 15 years the treasurer of the R.I. Philatelic Society and was a Past President of the Philatelic Group of Boston. He was a past trustee of the Cardinal Spellman Philatelic Museum and was 5 times US Commissioner to international stamp shows. He was a member of Hamilton House.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10:30am in St. Margaret’s Church, Pawtucket Ave. Rumford. Burial will be private. Calling hours are omitted. Donations in his memory may be made to Hamilton House, 276 Angell St., Providence, RI 02906.
