Obituary for Paul Frederic Caswell

Caswell, Paul Frederic of Providence RI passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on January 2nd of natural causes. He was 59 years old, the son of the late Francis W. and Diane C. Caswell of Jamestown. He is survived by his beloved dog Rocky, his siblings Peter F. Caswell, Lisa D. Caswell, Christopher W. Caswell, Lori S. Caswell, and Nora M. Santamour, as well as other family members. He was a lifelong bachelor.
Paul was a software engineer at various companies including Brown & Sharpe, Cadre, and Amazing Charts. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1979.
All his life, Paul was happily owned by his dogs, who adored him. He was "dad" to Ladd, Ginger, Harold, and Rocky among others. His most recent, Rocky, a 90lb German Shepard puppy, has been placed in a loving household of a family friend in Massachusetts. They are delighted to have their new family member who will be gamboling with their other dog, a beagle named Willow.
Paul is known to his friends and family as a generous and kind soul who was a good and loyal friend. He was someone that they could count on who was quick with a joke or a wise word and would always provide an ear to listen.
He was a lifelong Democrat and a devoted fan of the Red Sox and the Patriots. He served on the Providence External Review Authority, where he was chairman in 2006. He supported organizations such as the ACLU and the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. He cared deeply about his neighborhood and his neighbors and active in his Neighborhood Association. His family appreciates their care and support and they would especially like to thank Tina Demers and John Hourigan for thier help to him during his illness a few years ago.
