Obituary for Patricia Sills
Patricia was born on January 23, 1959 in Atmore Alabama to Grace Sills and the late Thomas W. Sills. She is the eldest of three children.
Patricia accepted Christ at the age of eleven and was baptized by Pastor Wallace J. Cook at Ebenezer Baptist Church. A faithful and active member of Ebenezer until her death, Ms. Sills served as Assistant Chairperson of the Board of Christian Education, belonged to the Young Adult Choir, the Gospel Ensemble and she regularly attended Sunday School. Patricia was a long-standing member of the Women's Ministry where she served as chairperson on several occasions. During her adolescent, Pat was an active member of Ebenezer’s Youth Ministries. One of her proudest   moments was when she, along with Dianne Becton, was selected to represent Ebenezer in Puerto Rico at an American Baptist Churches of Rhode Island Conference.
Ms. Sills graduated from Cranston East High School and later earned an Associate's Degree from the Community College of Rhode Island. Patricia began her professional career at Rhode Island School of Design where she served as Administrative Assistant to the President for more than a decade. When she relocated to the Boston area, Pat served as Director of Administration in the Political Science Department at Boston University. Upon her return to Rhode Island, Pat was employed at Roger Williams University.
Pat was a woman of God who was fiercely loyal to her Church, her family and her friends. She was a talented and creative woman who gave    willingly of her time and talents, whenever and wherever she could. Pat was opinionated, but funny and loyal. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.Â
Patricia (Pat) was a loving and devoted Mother to her one and only child, Lauren R. Ting (Sills) and a caring daughter to her Mother, Grace Sills. She leaves to mourn her two brothers, Thomas W. Sills Jr. of Cranston, RI and Marvin H. Sills of Bristol, RI, her son-in-law, John Ting, a niece and a nephew. Pat also leaves a dear friend, Susan Howland and a special friend, Pete Wilson; as well as a host of family members and friends.
