Obituary for Pasqualino Ceasare Fiori
On Friday, December 5th, Pasqualino Ceasare Fiori, better known as Lino Fiori, of Providence, passed away peacefully in the night, at the age of 87. Lino is survived by his loving wife, Mary Vanni Fiori, and his sons, Dr. Michael Fiori of Providence and Thomas Fiori of Johnston.  He was also father to the late Debbie Hayes and Paul Fiori of New York.
Lino was born in the Bronx in 1927, to Angelo Fiori and Rose Birri.  As a young child, he moved with his parents to his father’s hometown: a small Tuscan village in Italy known as Montefegatesi. However, shortly after their move, WWII was breaking out and Lino’s father made the decision to move the family back to the Bronx, where Lino entered into the second grade.
His parents instilled in him a love and appreciation for learning as they would proudly recount how after WWII, the top priorities of their home village were to rebuild the school and library. Lino went to the Bronx School of Science and then onto NYU.  He would later have a successful career in education, first as a teacher, then as a principal, and eventually as the Assistant Superintendant in the White Plains School District.
Lino was also a gifted carpenter.  He built with his own hands, the homes his family would live in for over 50 years in Valhalla New York, a summer home on Greg Lake, in New Hampshire, as well as his daughter’s home in New York.
His family will remember him as the loving Patriarch of the family, always game to give an emotional and heartfelt toast; his love of storytelling never waned.
He also leaves 6 grandchildren: Gina, Margaret, Joe, Christopher, Debbi, and Adriana, as well as 2 great grandchildren: Adeline and Emilia.  A funeral Service will be held Sunday at 1pm in the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home, on 230 Waterman St., Providence.  Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Miriam Hospital, 164 Summit Ave., Providence, RI 02906 in honor of the wonderful care they have given Lino and Mary over the years.
