Nancy M. Moore. 95, of County St., Newport died Wednesday, July 10 at The Village House, Newport. She was the wife of the late Dr. Daniel Moore, Jr. for 61 years.
Born in Providence on August 25, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (McCabe) McKenna. She was predeceased by her brother, Peter E. McKenna.
Nancy graduated from Elmhurst (Academy of the Sacred Heart) in 1946 and from Pembroke College, class of 1950. She taught elementary school at Sackett Street School in Providence and Sanders and Glen Hills schools in Cranston over a 20-year period.
Active in the Elmhurst Alumnae Association, she was a past treasurer and later president of the organization (1997 to 1999). She was also a member of the Pembroke Club, the Rhode Island Hospital Guild, and Women of Brown.
She was a member of the Brown University Pops Concert committee for 15 years and co-chairman of the committee for one year.
An avid crossword puzzle and wordsearch fan, Nancy enjoyed reading, travel, summers in Nantucket, and spending time with her family.
Nancy was a communicant of St. Sebastian’s Church, Cole Ave., Providence for over 50 years.
She was the mother of Kathryn Mohan (Thomas) of Melrose, MA, Daniel C. Moore of Centereach, NY and Plano, TX, Patricia Malone of Lincoln, RI, Susan Bisbee (Dan) of Dakar, Senegal and Christine Moore-Robb (Michael) of Newport. Nancy was the grandmother of 14 grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11 am in St Sebastian Church, Cole Ave., Providence with calling hours in the church starting at 10 am. Burial will be private. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Sebastian’s Church.
