Obituary for Morton W. Hampton
HAMPTON, MORTON W. HAMPTON, 91, died Thursday August 1, 2013, at the The Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence RI. Long time resident of Rumford, he was the son of the late T. Augustus and Helen (Winsor) Hampton. He was predeceased by his wife Janet (Corey), to whom he was married for more than 50 years. He retired in 1987 after a long career in the insurance industry from FM Global in Norwood, MA. He was a veteran of WW II. His favorite pastime was golf and was a former member of Segregansett Country Club in Dighton and current member of the Acoaxet Country Club in Westport. He is survived by his two sons Richard (Rumford, RI), John, and his wife Linda (Natick, MA); his sister Jeanne P. Knowles (Pawtuxet; RI) five grandchildren, Benjamin and his wife Mandy, Christopher and his fiance Kelsey, Zachary, Kaitlyn and Sarah and two great-grandchildren, Reese and Norah. The Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 5 at 11am in the Chapel of Swan Point Cemetery, Blackstone Blvd. Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Rhode Island State Association Of Fire Fighters Line Of Duty, 356 Smith St, Providence, Rhode Island 02908.
