Mona Marie (Borgeson) Speaker of Barrington, RI and formerly of Providence RI, passed away May 24. Born in Chicago on August 16, 1928, she was the adored daughter of Bernard and Olive (Omdahl) Borgeson and younger sister to Betty. Mona was the beloved wife for 74 years to Bob who passed away in 2022. She was the devoted mother to Kristin Bennett, Robert Speaker (Joyce), Jon Speaker (Cynthia Roberts) and Laura Coutu (Stephen). She cherished her 9 grandchildren: Leah Bennett, Emily King, Elizabeth Sturla, Bobby Speaker, Michael Speaker, Max Coutu, Grace Coutu, Ethan Coutu and Kai Roberts-Speaker. She was a loving GG Mona to 12 great-grandchildren: William, Hadyn, Damian, Eva, Helena, Soren, Reeve, Saskia, Hunter, Bjorn, Oliver and Jonah. She was an active member and volunteer at the First Unitarian Church of Providence for many years. She and Bob had many traveling adventures, visiting all 50 United States, multiple Caribbean islands, and many European and Central American destinations. She will be deeply missed!
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 1st at 11:00 the Redwood Chapel in Swan Point Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the First Unitarian Church of Providence or Atria Bay Spring which she called home for many years.
