Obituary for Michael Edward Gallagher
Michael Edward Gallagher, Sr., 70, a loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 3, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Marie (Lavoie) for 47 years, and he was a life-long Rhode Island resident.
Michael was a graduate of LaSalle Academy and Boston College. He was proud of his service in the Army and was a Vietnam War veteran.
In 1976, Michael became President of Kingston Pipe Industries, a company he co-founded. After 24 years, he and his business partner sold the company and retired.
He enjoyed a great day of golf and was a member of the Quidnessett Country Club.
Michael will be deeply missed by his loving wife Marie, his daughter Katie, his son Michael, Jr., his mother Margaret, his sister Susan, and his niece and Goddaughter Martha. Michael’s family and friends knew and cherished his kindness of heart, his generosity, his gentleness of spirit, his strength, his loyalty, and his integrity. He always put others before himself. He was a true gentleman who took great pride in his family.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 8;45am from the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home 230 Waterman St., Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St Margaret Church, Pawtucket Ave., Rumford. Calling hours Wednesday 4-7pm. Burial with military honors will be in the R.I. Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 964 Main St., Pawtucket, R.I. 02860.
