Mary D. Diggins, 92, of Providence died Saturday at the Orchard View Manor in East providence. She was the wife of the late Leo A. Diggins, Sr.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Henry and Mary (McGarry) Diggins, she was a Fox Point resident most of her life.
Mary was a crossing guard for the Providence Police Department for 20 years retiring 30 years ago. She was a long time communicant of St Joseph Church in Fox point.
She leaves a daughter; Mary Pavao of Wakefield, a son: Leo A. Diggins Jr., of Cranston 2 grandsons and 2 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Doris Casey and Millie O’Grady.
The funeral will be held Friday at 9am from the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home 230 Waterman St., Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Joseph church, Hope St., Burial will be in St Ann’s Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday  4-6pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105. Â
