Mark Olivier, a beloved father, grandfather, and master of laughter, passed peacefully on January 26, 2025, surrounded by love and family.
Mark was born in Providence, Rhode Island on February 19, 1951, the son of the late Richard & Mary (Macabies) Olivier, and proud brother of the late Peter R. Olivier, Jean L. Olivier, and Louise Olivier.
Mark was a skilled plasterer by trade, dedicating many years to his craft with pride and artistry. Outside of work, he was passionate about saltwater fishing and was immensely proud of the handful of wins he achieved in local shark fishing tournaments, including landing his best catch—a 425-pound Thresher. The story of that shark was one Mark never tired of telling.
In addition to fishing, Mark enjoyed cooking, gardening and watching football. Mark was an avid collector of stamps, baseball cards, art and coins. He also had a passion for magic, comedy, and playing cards, especially cribbage. Rarely without a trick up his sleeve, Mark found joy in making others smile.
Mark’s legacy lives on in his three beloved daughters - Joli M. Olivier, Nicole M. Vestri (Brian Vestri), and Shelby V. Crofts (Nathan Crofts), and his three cherished grandchildren - Jonah D. Kelley, Emilia R. Vestri, and Scarlett E. Crofts. He is also survived by his adoptive son, Rodney Costa as well as many nieces and nephews. Mark’s love, humor, and endless kindness will remain in their hearts forever.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be held on Thursday, February 6th from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at East Greenwich Veterans Fireman’s Club, 80 Queen St., East Greenwich, RI.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor his memory by sharing a laugh or brightening someone’s day, just as Mark always did.
