Obituary for Mariette Colson
Mariette J. Colson of  Fox Point Manor, Providence died peacefully at Oakland Grove Health Center on March 23, 2013 after a short illness.  She was born in Woonsocket, RI on April 25,1925. She was predeceased by her parents Jean and Maria (Merckelbach) Colson, her sister, Lillian Blake Lennox and niece, Nancy Blake. She is survived by her sisters Nelly Dulude of Moncks Corner, SC and Muriel Orr and husband John of Uxbridge, MA and several nieces and nephews.
She was a graduate of Woonsocket High Class of 1943 and earned her BS in Accounting with honors from Johnson and Wales in 1977. At the age of 80 she was online e-mailing family and friends. Mariette had a long career as an executive secretary, loved to learn, spoke several languages, was an avid reader, enjoyed old movies and was a skilled gardener, seamstress and artist. She loved Providence and its history. Mariette was kind, funny, loyal and smart. Her presence will be dearly missed by her family.Â
According to her wishes there are no calling hours or services. A private burial will be held at a later date.  Â
